Sprinkler Systems

In order to protect your business’s property and ensure the life safety of its occupants, the proper operation of your fire protection systems is vitally important. To ensure the components of a fire protection system are in proper working condition at all times, Provincial Governments, Municipalities and Insurance Companies mandate a series of inspections which are to be performed on a regular basis.

The National Fire Code dictates how sprinkler systems are to be inspected and maintained. Through the National Fire Code, standards and codes become legally enforceable. The standards and codes that are referenced for sprinkler systems are National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards. The codes and standards that apply to fire protection systems are:

NFPA 10 Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers.

NFPA. 13 Standards for the installation of Sprinkler Systems.

NFPA 14 Standards for the installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems.

NFPA 20 Standards for the installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection.

NFPA 25 Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems.

Some of the most common inspections that may be required are annual, semi annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly inspections of:
